Melissa and Ray hosted their destination wedding on Isla Mujeres just off Cancun, Mexico. We asked the couple how they landed on this tiny island. “We knew we wanted to be married on a beach and since we got engaged during our expedition in the Yucatan, why not share what we love about it with our family and friends on the most memorable day of our lives! We decided on the cozy “muy tranquilo” Isla Mujeres. A four mile long by 1 mile wide island off of Cancun where the primary mode of transportation are golf carts or mopeds.”
“We had a blast putting together welcome boxes for our guests. It included our homemade Hot sauce in custom labeled bottles we designed and printed – with love by MelRay, authentic Mexican coffee and hibiscus leaves for our fellow tea lovers.”
Now that’s a getaway car!
Melissa’s maids wore beautifully neutral toned dresses to blend with the beach setting but pops of color in the bouquets and yellow orchids in their hair made their looks stand out with a splash! As the bride described: “Bridesmaids and Grooms ladies were like royalty in their floor length flowing dresses and custom done copper, amber and blue jewels down to their bare feet ornaments. The bridal bouquets were perfectly arranged with a blend of muted sandy hues and pops of beach blue’s and orange.”
“The ambiance of the day came to life in a big way. Our gold trimmed program scrolls on vintage like parchment paper were in baskets for our forty guests.”
“For our wedding ceremony we chose Zama Beach Club which gave us the intimate privacy and beach chic vibe we were looking for.”
“The most significant vintage piece was my wedding dress which was hand sewn by my great aunt for my mother in 1975. Considering my great aunt is losing her sight, it was super sentimental to have the chance to wear her creation down the aisle. I had reconstruction and some embellishment added for a touch of my own style and a beach friendly gown.”
“They made beautiful table adornment along with the gold mercury votives accenting our family style dinner table. Seating was marked with our guests names as a “messages in a bottle” and sandstone coasters branded with our seal were functional table décor and memorable souvenir’s for our family and friends.”
“Dinner was amazing, speeches moved nearly everyone to tears of joy and the DJ rocked the beach club all night long. We couldn’t ask for anything more and will reflect on the series of events that made our wedding experience so unique for years to come. A perfect dream come true!”
Congratulations to the newlyweds!
