Elaine and Christie said I do during a snowy day in Banff, Canada where an intimate group of friends and family gathered to celebrate their union. Getting married in the Canadian Rockies was just what this couple dreamed of, a pair who shares a love of the outdoors. But what a treat when they discovered snow on their wedding day in September!
We asked the newlyweds to share with us the story of their big day and how it came to be. “We were inspired by the beauty of the Canadian Rockies. We were inspired by the beauty and simplicity of nature itself. We love hiking and boating, just being in nature makes us happy and that’s why we decided to go with a nature theme and with nature colors.”
“The first time we saw each other in our dresses standing out among the beautiful trees all of our worries about weather or anything else just melted away. Everything you envision how the first look would be can’t compare to the emotions you feel the first time you see the love of your life standing in front of you. It is a rush, an energy, breath taking moment, sensory overload and overwhelming love! In that split second it reaffirms that feeling you have in your soul that this is the person I want to spend my days with. My soul mate!”
“Our absolute favorite wedding day detail was the surprise snow! We were expecting rain and it turned into something very magical.”
“Being surrounded by close family and friends in such an intimate gathering could not have been more perfect,” shared Christie. “It was an overwhelming feeling of emotions!”
“The reception decorations were stunning and really fit our outdoorsy style.”
We often ask couples if they experienced any challenges planning a wedding away and of course, the weather was part of this story! “On the day of the wedding, Elaina got up and headed back to the Banff house and I waited for my parents to arrive. We woke up to a very cold and rainy morning. It actually wasn’t the rain that worried us the most though; it was the fact that it was so foggy you couldn’t see anything! This meant no beautiful mountain/lake backdrop. I’m getting calls from Elaina who’s been in touch with Postcard Weddings on other contingency plans because it started to sleet! The makeup artist and stylist did their magic on us and we felt beautiful and ready to meet our soon to be wife. The weather started to change and the forecast for the day was looking like several inches of snow! Our planners again went into action mode and reorganized all the wedding teams to have the wedding at the Rimrock Hotel. There is no way all the pieces would have fit together as perfectly as they did if we didn’t have them working their magic in the background. Elaina and I were able to enjoy each moment and it totally took all the pressure of the re-arrangements off our shoulders. We got in our cars and headed to the first photo shoot.”
Congratulations to the newlyweds!
