Thanks to Larissa Banting of Weddings Costa Rica for sending us this beach wedding she designed and planned for the lovely Sorrel and Reggie who wed at Casa Capitan in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica. You may recognize this beach as one of the top 10 most beautiful beaches in the world, so needless to say, the locale makes the perfect spot for a destination wedding! But this location also proved to be a bit of a challenge for those involved in the big day. As Larissa recounts, “The days leading up to the wedding had seen torrential rains for 7 days straight – the country was under a state of emergency, due to massive flooding and mudslides. The remote location, with incredibly bad roads, was all the more challenging. We had tents but I was worried, as the day before the wedding was rain, rain, rain. Saturday morning, the sun rose, the birds chirped and all was perfect for this easy-going couple.” The wedding was attended by 55 loved ones who traveled from far and wide to be a part of the celebration. Even Reggie’s grandmother made the trip in her 90’s, as did a local dog who wanted to get in on the ceremony action. The couple wanted an “Anthropologie meets Rumble in the Jungle” wedding, and so it was. The palette of yellows, blues, greens and a hint of pink was woven throughout. They team incorporated the colors through hundreds of yards of fabric turned ribbons for not only the floor to ceiling place card display, and ceremony structure, but for the backdrop of the sweets and desserts bar as well. Pompoms were hung inside the tent and handmade wooden signs gave guests a clear idea of where to find the bar.Dancing was held on the pool deck and as part of the entertainment, Sorrel’s sister wowed the guests with a fire dance. For dessert, the couple served up cake, mini cupcakes, cookies and local Costa Rican candies, giving guests a sweet taste of the island. At the end of the night, much of the group found themselves in the pool! A good time was clearly had by all. Congratulations Sorrel & Reggie!!
