Alena and Andrew said I do in Riviera Maya, Mexico at the beautiful Banyan Tree Mayakoba, a place the couple and their families had visited many times over the past few years while on vacation so it was a natural fit to call home for their destination wedding.
We chatted with the couple’s wedding planner, Sarah Glick from Brilliant Event Planning about the bright, beautiful color palette and inspiration for the big day. “Alena and Andrew really wanted a romantic feel without being too rustic and she absolutely loved a bright, coral color as a touchpoint to her florals. Nothing too stuffy or buttoned-up. From the lanterns on the dinner tables to the more “undone” look of the florals, we designed the day with this in mind.”
The bright colors infused into the bride’s bouquet were absolutely stunning!
This exotic property has all kinds of secluded spots for a picture perfect first look.
So how did the couple describe their wedding? “Romantic, elegant and fun.” Mission accomplished!
We always look for ways the couple infuses the local culture into their big day and this pair opted to do that through the food. The fare was full of local favorites (including even the bar selections and even escort cards).
“As a fun twist on escort “cards” was serving watermelon + habanero pepper margaritas with drink flags that were handwritten calligraphy instead of the typical/traditional cards. It was a huge hit!”
We asked this savvy bride and groom if they had a few words of advice for getting married at this specific property. “Just make sure you have extra transportation if you’re planning events at the main lobby building and at the beach areas. We did but only because our wonderful planners knew we needed it!”
Congratulations to the newlyweds!
