Preppy Navy Blue + Gold Seabrook Island, South Carolina Destination Wedding

Lizzie and Scott traveled for their destination wedding from Chicago to Seabrook Island, South Carolina, a place close to their hearts. Lizzie was sweet enough to share a bit about their very special wedding experience with us. “Scott’s parents have a home on Seabrook Island and when I first visited with Scott a couple of years ago, I fell in love.  Choosing Seabrook to have our wedding was easy, we had a connection to the island and it was absolutely beautiful.”

“Scott and I wanted a smaller wedding that would allow us to spend time with our friends and family.  We essentially wanted a wedding week, not just a wedding day, surrounded with the people we love, celebrating our love and the start of our lives together. With the help of a lot of family and friends, we were able to make that happen.”

“Because the location and venue were already so breathtaking, we decided to keep the decor simple, yet elegant.”

“We wanted a very classic wedding, which is why we chose Navy and Champagne/Gold.  The design ended up being a very nautical theme, which was great for a beach wedding.  Scott knew he wanted to wear a suit versus a tux, and he looks great in Navy.  Champagne/Gold was my choice for the bridesmaids and when I saw the bridesmaid’s dresses, I fell in love with them.  They were classic and feminine, and looked great on every single one of my bridesmaids. After deciding on the suits and dresses, we kind of just went with the theme and found things we loved within that color scheme.”

“It is hard to narrow down our favorite memories from the day because we loved every minute of it!  However, if we had to narrow it down, we would have to say sharing our vows with one another, seeing each other for the first time during our “first look”, and seeing all the planning we did for a year come to life and turn out amazing.  Between the open bar and the great music by Quiana Parlor, we had everyone partying on the dance floor all night, with foam glow sticks and sunglasses.  It was a wonderful day and night with all of the people we care about the most in the world – one that we will never forget!”

“We had a very close friend officiate the ceremony for us, he wrote the whole ceremony and we wrote our own vows.  It made the ceremony very personal and unique for us.”

“Most of the decorations and details came from my inspiration with the help of my mom and sister.  We didn’t use a wedding planner, so we had a really fun time picking out table runners, plate chargers, table numbers, signs, you name it!  We picked out most of the decorations and details in advance and shipped everything from Chicago to South Carolina.  That was the biggest pain when planning from afar.  I have to give all the credit of the sunglasses and foam glow sticks to my mom, she came up with the idea for the reception and they were a HUGE hit!”

“Also, our cake was a huge hit!  It was made by a very close family friend, who came down for the wedding and made the cake in the house that we rented for the week.  It turned out phenomenal and tasted amazing!”
