Christiane and Erich opted for a very special engagement session – in Italy! This darling couple traveled to Venice for a fabulous, fairy tale-inspired photo shoot with the talented team at Ladies & Lord Fine Photography, and what became of their day out in Italy is nothing short of fairy tale magic in photos.
We asked Claudia Magas of Ladies & Lord to share a bit about the ideas behind their shoot.
Christiane & Erich are avid Italy fans. Every year they come for a vacation to the Northern coast and of course to Venice, which has a special place in their hearts.
I met the couple on a wedding fair and we really hit it off. They told me about their wedding plans and how they wanted something different. Something bold and extraordinary. Well, THAT is exactly my cup of tea I told them ;))
Christiane once mentioned the carnival and fairy tales and so my imagination ran wild and I immediately thought of a dramatic look in a red cape. I just had the vision of an empty Venice (I know, I am disillusioned haha) and her roaming the streets in it. (We captured this vision in the short film we made.)
In order to be dramatic one must choose bold colours so we went for marsala and gold. The décor from the pompous cake to the many shades of red, burgundy and marsala was a drastic change to all the pastel, blush, peach and ivory palettes that are in right now.
I travelled with my team to Venice one day before the shoot. We met the couple at the romantic Settimo Cielo Hotel in the San Marco district of town. Christiane & Erich chose it for the glamorous décor and rich colours and posh furniture. It matched our storyboard to perfection. We started with filming a few sequences in the evening trying to get a few alleyways and canals without people. I also love shooting a test run before the big day just to get the couple relaxed. Usually people are not used to being in front of the camera and a short test run makes them more comfortable. We really got it going the next day when we got up in the wee morning hours to start with hair and makeup. Venice is quite quiet in the morning so we used this time to roam the partly empty streets, wander around the alleys. All in all it was magical.
People always ask about a highlight but you are in Venice – La Serenissima – it is the atmosphere around you that is the highlight. I can’t wait to come back here soon.
How will their big day top this day? Well, it’s taking place in Austria to start and we’re sure they have some more magic up their sleeves to share.
