Sometimes having a destination wedding doesn’t mean a far far away place, instead the location of choice can actually be one close to the couple, or their family, and one of great memories. That was the case when Melina and John tied the knot in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, where Melina’s parents had a summer home and where she spent many a summer day throughout her childhood. The bride couldn’t think of a more perfect place to say “I do” and after seeing this lovely weekend-long wedding, we can’t either! Melina’s one requirement? A casual and inviting vibe, and when Ali of Engaging Events by Ali kept the decor simple, with crisp details, that’s exactly what the day turned out to be. 
A palette of white and Melina’s favorite shades of green carried throughout the day, beginning with the sleek and simplistic programs from Clementine Ink + Paper. A few bursts of rich pinks and reds were added to complement the soft hues of the paper goods and decor.
After the vows, guests enjoyed views of the golf course and Lake Como outside The Hunt Club while sipping champagne.
They moved indoors for dinner where they were met with a cozy, hunting-lodge feel, wood-paneled walls, stone fireplaces and all!
Sips and sweets (and sips as sweets!) were abound with traditional offerings, like wedding cake, and not-so-traditional options like mini strawberry short cakes! The perfect finale to a intimate and relaxed evening. But don’t be fooled, the event didn’t really end there!
After the knot was tied and the drinks drunk, guests enjoyed another full day of celebration at Melina’s family home. AveryHouse snapped a few photos of the blissful newlyweds on the lake and then the fun really began!
The freshest, most detectible food was brought in for a day-long feast by the water. If only I could get my hands on some of those stuffed tomatoes and berry pies… yum!
A tent was erected with stairs behind so guests could meander down the hillside and really enjoy those lake views. Who would want to leave?
The sun didn’t need to set before the groomsmen hit the dance floor, Hawaiian shirts and all. But after the sun did make its way behind the trees sparklers were lit for a grand getaway and guests headed to their cars where they were greeted where a final, perfectly-executed goodbye awaited them.
