Yuna and Pedro traveled all the way from Seattle, WA to Sintra, Portugal for their intimate destination wedding with 70 of their closest friends and family. But this was no random destination on a map, Pedro is originally from Lisbon, Portugal. We asked the couple about the chosen spot and here’s what they shared with us. “Sintra is a town full of many beautiful historic castles and palaces. We chose the venue ‘Tivoli Palácio de Seteais’ in Sintra, since it’s such an elegant and gorgeous palace. Who would not want to get married in a palace?” Good point – and such a spectacular palace at that!
The palette they picked was one of oranges and corals, with a nod to the destination element of the event, Pedro wore airplane themed cuff links!
The bride’s Korean heritage was also a special part of the day and made for some fabulous fashions!
The breathtaking ceremony took place on the lawn of the palace turned hotel.
It was truly a global event that paid tribute to both the bride and groom’s heritage. “At the ceremony we felt very special, looking around and seeing families and friends from all over the world gathered in one place to celebrate with us. We said the wedding vows in each other’s first language – Korean and Portuguese.”
After the ceremony, the couple took advantage of the gorgeous grounds while Piteira Photography captured the moment.
The reception was formal and intimate. Yuna and Pedro spiced it up with a perfectly choreographed first dance to set the tone for the rest of the evening.
Bride and groom sashes adorned the sweetheart chairs and personalized table names with photos of the happy couple told other guests where to sit. A reception with personal details and lots of celebration!
Then for dessert, the duo incorporated some personal touches. “Our wedding cake was tiers of ‘Pastéis de Nata’, Portuguese egg tart pastry. And the cake topper was personalized miniature characters of us with our cat! And instead of Champagne, our toast was with Port wine, an old Portuguese tradition.”
Everything went so well, we asked their advice for future destination couples? “Start planning early, and plan on getting to the destination early to meet each vendor in person.”
