The Green Flash Wedding

Ever heard of the green flash?  It’s something I always look for at sunset but have yet to see.  The green flash is a phenomena that happens just as the sun crosses below the sea’s horizon and for a split second, a spark of green light flashes just above the sun.  Most often seen in tropical locals (Hawaii is a popular sighting spot) because of the unobstructed views (and let’s face it, we watch more sunsets when we travel), the green flash is often associated with vacations and trips.  That means destination weddings too!

If you’re hoping to see the green flash in this lifetime, we’ve found a way to bring it to you!  For a fun themed rehearsal dinner, weave in green goodies to your event – including the popular green flash cocktail!

To make a green flash you’ll need (recipe courtesy of White On Rice Couple):

  • 1 oz vodka
  • 1/2 oz Peach Schnapps
  • 1/2 oz Blue Curacao
  • 3 oz orange juice
  • 3 oz sprite
  • ice
  • orange slice for garnish
  • maraschino cherry for garnish
Then just mix all together and serve on ice!  A perfect brightly colored beverage for the tropics!

Limes for garnish and other green foods as appetizer options also make for great green flash pops of color at your event!

And of course your invitations are an easy way to work in the color.

Don’t forget about your green wedding shoes or green bridesmaid dresses too!  Maybe even a green pocket square for the guys??

I love the tropical look of orange and green together when one is daring enough to go with a bold color palette.  So add a few hues of yellow, orange, and red to complete the concept of the sun at sunset sparking into a vibrant color green – you’ve got the entire spectrum of the event in your color story!
