I’m giddy with excitement to share our first destination wedding with you. The wonderfully talented photographers from Harrison Studio were kind enough to bring us the Michigan nuptials of Lisa and Ian.
The wedding took place on June 18th at the Felt Estate in Holland, MI where the bride’s aunt works. The sprawling property ultimately became the perfect location compromise between their Chicago lives and the couple’s Michigan roots. And just 160 miles from home, the venue proved to be an ideal spot not too far away to jet over when they needed to take a few vendor and design meetings. Love the ease of a nearby destination wedding! The wedding was certainly a family affair with help in planning from Lisa’s mom and aunt and Ian’s cousin, Andy, acting as their officiant on the big day. The outdoor ceremony site surrounded by trees was a picturesque backdrop for the beautiful bride and her handsome groom to say “I do.”
Both Lisa and Ian were very involved in the design process and the beauty of their creativity clearly shows. The sophisticated summer tent was an idyllic backdrop to the delicate details inside. Lisa tells us, “Throughout the planning stages, we both knew that we wanted to be able to look back at our wedding through our photography and videography and feel as though we picked a timeless look. Colors were kept simple and neutral. We did our best to avoid current trends because they can date photos as the trends shift. Ian works with 3D animation, and was able to model the wedding grounds, the chairs, the tables, the tent, everything, and render it so we’d know exactly how it was going to look, and to make sure everything would fit. Since the whole point was to make people have a good time in a beautiful setting, we also wanted to make sure it was captured the same way.”And a timeless beauty it was. The antique hydrangea with stephanotis bridal bouquet blended effortlessly with the soft blush pink roses and white peonies throughout the décor. And the cake, oh the cake! Look out Princess Kate, this cake (by Mirabella Confections) rivals any royal wedding.
Clearly a good time was had by all and this wedding could go down in the pretty hall of fame. Congratulations Lisa and Ian! Thank you for sharing your Michigan destination wedding with us, and may you have a lifetime of happiness together!
