Ashley and Danny wed in Lake Las Vegas, not a typical Las Vegas destination wedding, this one was set slightly outside of town where guests got the best of both worlds – close proximity to the strip but the feeling of being hours away on a lovely lake.
We asked Ashley how they selected the locale. “We chose Las Vegas as a wedding destination because we thought it would be the most attractive vacation destination for our friends and family from Australia and the Eastern US, and we would get the largest and most enthusiastic guests. We chose to get married in Lake Las Vegas because we were not about the cheesy Vegas wedding (with Elvis and everything). We still wanted to have a traditional elegant and classy wedding.”
Ashley is a professional dancer so it was perfectly fitting that they chose to play up not only the destination details, but a bit of a theatrical theme too! A bright palette of blues and yellows set the tone for what would be a major celebration! “We went with our two favorites, yellow and blue. Which was a big challenge to keep the elegance without the high school pep rally feel.”
The theme was woven in seamlessly, from the programs to the table names and even the music. “I love the idea of old movie musicals, they are romantic and classy. We also knew we wanted a jazz band, so that was an easy fit.”
For the ceremony and reception, the couple decided to leave the majority of Las Vegas on the strip. “We did embrace “Las Vegas” before and after the wedding. We spent nearly a week before the wedding on the strip, but the wedding was meant to be the different side of Vegas. We had a BBQ the night before at a local park in Henderson where you could see the strip lights come up with the sunset soaked mountains in the backdrop. I think it’s a part of Vegas that is beautiful and something most people would have never seen. As for the wedding itself, it was even further from the typical Vegas backdrop.”
The pair tied the knot outside at the Westin Lake Las Vegas.
One bonus of a destination wedding? Extended time of course! “The few days leading up to the wedding were nothing less than amazing. To have friends and family from all over to help us celebrate and have fun, that was the most important and best part!!”
And for those that couldn’t be there to celebrate with them? Modern technology made sure no one missed a moment!
Wine corks were used as a special guest book for friends and family to sign.
Since the bride is a professional dancer, the two danced a perfectly choreographed first dance. And the groom certainly shined right along with her!
The reception was also outdoors – one filled with pops of color, candles, and feathers!
Both long and round tables peppered the outdoor deck beautifully thanks to the work of Scheme Weddings and Events, Bob Gail Special Events, and By Dzign.
Dice themed glassware reminded guests of their location without being too obtrusive to their overall theme.
For dessert? Sweets, treats, and a theater themed three tiered wedding cake by Gimme Some Sugar.
Then it was off to Peru for a fabulous honeymoon!
Congratulations!
