Karena and Chris traveled all the way from Florida to tie the knot in a beautiful outdoor destination wedding in Florence – a location they weren’t always thinking they’d get married in. Though they fell in love with it quickly upon their visit! Karena shared the story of their special day with us.
How did you select the location for your destination wedding in Florence?
It was absolutely breathtaking. There was no other venue in Florence with such an incredible view like Hotel Belmond, beautiful gardens and wonderful staff. My husband and I sat in that rooftop garden for nearly an hour on the first day we visited. I just knew that would be the place I would marry the love of my life.
I wanted to make sure that I kept my decor simple. Florence is such a beautiful and colorful city. I didn’t want to overcomplicate things or take away from the beauty that was already there. So, I worked with my amazing florist Francesca to come up with the perfect arch made of branches and gorgeous white flowers. It was perfect.
We asked the newlyweds about their favorite moment from their destination wedding in Florence: There are so many moments that it’s hard to chose one! Walking down the aisle and my favorite moment was probably the party! We danced so long and partied so hard that they had to kick us out of the hotel! It was epic!
Advice for other destination wedding couples? Try your best to actually visit the location before you choose one. Chris and I thought for sure we would get married in Venice Italy until we visited Florence and fell in love.
