Brittney and Chris said “I do” in Cabo, Mexico at the popular destination wedding location, Cabo Azul Los Cabos. With just 25 loved ones present, this intimate event was filled with special moments, and even a few surprises.
Brittney told us all about their big day. “Our color palette was navy, off white, and a pop of Orange! The venue was stunning with little decor needed, however I love the simple beauty and elegance of fresh flowers. The flowers are what I used to bring in the orange into our wedding colors. I really wanted our guests to take in the beautiful resort and ocean view we had during the entire day so I wanted to keep the feel of romance and simplicity that the crashing waves in the background presented by having candles lit all around the outdoor reception area and at each of the tables for our guests.”
Why a destination wedding and how did they select this spot? “Chris and I started our engagement with him down on one knee at the base of a 300 foot waterfall in Maui on vacation and we knew that our wedding must follow suit. With our shared love of traveling we began researching locations for a destination wedding that was more than just ‘a wedding on the beach’. We landed on images of a four story open-aired chapel in the center of a stunning resort overlooking the beach of San Jose del Cabo. Just three months later we were touring Cabo Azul, and from the very first steps in the chapel Chris and I both knew this is where we were meant to marry. The chapel was modern, ornate, and romantic with the most breath taking view.”
“I remember waking up that morning and sitting on my balcony watching the sunrise and the warm breeze running through my hair. There was such a warm, comforting feeling in my heart that this was truly the perfect place to start our life as husband and wife. Sara (Richardson Photography) truly captured every emotion and special moment of our day from feeling anxious and excited getting ready, to the emotional walk down the aisle to my reaction to the firework show my husband had surprised me with, to dancing all night long with our loved ones. This may sound cliché but honestly find a photographer that will capture your day exactly how you dream. In the end you will forget if your flowers weren’t perfect, or if your cake wasn’t the best, but will you will have one thing forever to remind and reminisce your special day and that is the photographs.”
The couple not only loved their photographer and ceremony site, but the location provided the perfect reception spot too. “It did not stop at the perfect chapel for the ceremony because we all know that a majority of the time of the wedding day is spent at the reception. Javier’s is the resort restaurant that is rested right along the beach with a patio that is surrounded by torches that added to the romantic feelings we shared on our wedding.”
“There truly was something to cherish in each small moment of the day. I suppose one that took me for surprise was during dinner… Sara Richardson, our photographer asked that she steal us for a moment as their happened to be a full moon that night (surprise to me as we chose this date because I love the 4th of July aka fireworks ;), so we went to the side of the reception area so she could capture some pictures of us with the gorgeous moon behind us…. well instead fireworks suddenly exploded right over us!! Chris had somehow snuck around and planned with our great wedding coordinator Maria and gave me the present of my dreams– my very own firework show!”
And when the day was done, the newlyweds headed off to Europe for a month long honeymoon doing just what they love most – traveling.
Congratulations to the newlyweds!
