Today’s destination wedding was actually several days of activities for bride and groom, Mike and Sweta, who celebrated with loved ones at Moon Palace Resort and Spa. The bride shared their story with us.
“Mike had his heart set on a destination wedding from the very beginning, I was apprehensive as I wanted to have a full Indian wedding. We started looking into the Caribbean as there is a large Indian population there so we thought there would be a lot of great resources for us. We eventually consulted with a destination wedding planner that specializes in South Asian weddings, we were given a list of resorts in Mexico to look into. We picked Moon Palace Resort and Spa because it is a beautiful resort with high end amenities. They also have great wedding packages, an experienced wedding department, and all of the resources to host an Indian wedding. They also gave us a great deal on our room blocks.”
“On Friday afternoon, the henna artists, Veronica De La Paz (also a preferred vendor of Moon Palace), came to the resort to apply mendhi (henna) to my hands and feet as well as for my bridesmaids and close family (mothers, grandmothers). It was a fun-filled afternoon hanging out with all of them and enjoying the mini-bar in the room. Friday night, we had our first event, our welcome event which was on a terrace next to the beach. This event was casual, a way for guests to come meet us and meet the other guests. We also had welcome bags for our guests with personalized stadium cups, room key holders, 5-hr energy, itinerary for the weekend, etc. which we gave out at this event. We had our cocktail hour and dinner.”
“Saturday night was the henna party on the beach, for guests to do their henna. The henna artist from Veronica De La Paz was there. JSAV was also present to provide the sound system and lighting for the beach. For this event, our DJ made a beach party playlist for us to play, which worked out really well. Decor was completed by Zuniga, a preferred vendor. Our family and friends were up and dancing in no time!”
“Sunday of course was wedding day! The priest was a Hindu priest that we got in touch with through the resort, he did an excellent job keeping In touch with us prior to the wedding to make sure he knew what we wanted. Indian ceremonies can vary from region to region. After the ceremony we served an Indian lunch.”
One of the bride’s favorite moments? “Our first look, this was not something we had planned to do, but I’m so glad we did!”
“I was able to watch mikes procession from the room I was getting ready in, which was an amazing surprise, usually the bride doesn’t get to see that.”
“That night was the reception for which the decor was done by Zuniga, sound and lighting by JSAV, and music by Shaadi Entertainment (from Chicago).”
Congratulations to the newlyweds!
