Merry Christmas friends! We hope today is spent with those you love most and that your travels are safe this holiday season!
We’re continuing our “best of” 2015 today and we’ve got an old favorite wedding in red and blue from the beautiful beaches of Mexico, designed by the talented Mishka Designs. Enjoy and Merry Merry!
Natalie and Joshua said I do during a destination wedding at the beautiful Casa Guillermo in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – a place they selected for it’s beauty and their love of the country. Wedding planner and designer, Mishka Aznoe-Morales of Mishka Designs told us about the design and ideas behind this beautiful beach wedding and big day.
“Natalie wanted a Boho look but she wanted to stay within the realm of dark red and wine with touches of ivory and gold – so the trick was to keep the Boho, eclectic, traveled feel while staying within the color scheme. We ended-up adding a touch of Turquoise Blue and I think that really helped pull this whole look together.”
“The ring bearer box held a phrase from Natalie & Joshua’s song and it was for their son to carry down.”
“The only “hurdle” per se is that some of the public beaches in Puerto Vallarta now need permits and the paperwork took us a while to get through but it all worked out in the end.”
“I actually spent the longest time on nearly every detail of this wedding, more than any other wedding I’ve ever designed. All of the lace fabric was vintage, chosen specifically for each piece – from the chuppah to the tablecloths and table runners. We hand-painted the petates with a heart to keep in with the Mexican/Boho feel. Natalie told me she loved dream catchers if there was some way I could add that in, but didn’t want feathers … so we hand-crafted some crotchet dream catchers and hung hand-crafted pom-poms from them instead and set it up for the photo-op area.”
“All the signage was hand-painted with the same motif in order to carry the Boho, spirited, Mexican theme along.”
“The shot glasses were designed and hand-painted with their initials and a Moroccan motif.”
“The dance floor had hundreds of hand-crafted pom-poms strung up between bistro lighting. We hand-crafted pom-pom hanging lights, chose all the fabric from Etsy and Ebay in order to have just the right colors, patterns and textures. There wasn’t a single detail we overlooked for Natalie & Joshua – including the coffee table which we had painted turquoise blue as a special accent piece in the cigar lounge.”
Congratulations to the newlyweds!
