Kelly and Jorge tied the knot at a destination wedding on the beautiful island of St. John in the US Virgin Islands. The couple traveled all the way from Tokyo to wed at a spot very near and dear to their hearts. Kelly shared with us how they new St. John was the place to say I do.
“As one American and one Ecuadorian living in Tokyo, one of the hardest parts of planning our wedding was deciding on the location! But my family has been going to St. John for over 20 years and we have always loved it there, so it seemed like a natural choice.”
The couple opted to embrace their tropical surroundings and expressed it through bright pops of color in their florals, personal bouquets and even on Jorge’s lapel.
The stunning ceremony took place on Trunk Bay Beach just as the sunset.
“Even though we had great weather for the entire week and a half we were on the island before the wedding, we woke up that morning to stormy skies and lots of heavy rain. But luckily, the weather there changes very quickly, and after one more downpour just before our photographer arrived, the wind blew away the clouds and we ended up with the best weather of our entire trip. Sage captured the gorgeous scenery and our event perfectly, and we could not have been more delighted with the photos!”
Bougainvillea and palm fronds lined the sandy aisle to fit with their style but keep the setting the real decor for the day.

After the “I do’s” the intimate group gathered for a reception at the bride’s parents’ home, where more tropical flowers and decor awaited them.
Even orchids adorned this beautiful cake before the couple said goodnight as husband and wife!
