A Winter Wonderland Wedding in Park City, Utah

park city wedding

Chelsey and David had a wonderful winter wonderland wedding at the swanky St. Regis Deer Valley (we’ve been – it’s fantastic!).  The bride shared with us how they selected this special location to celebrate with close friends and family.  “It is close to my family’s winter home. It also has breathtaking views from where we said our vows.  I love the winter season and my favorite childhood memories are in deer valley with my family. Plus the pictures were breathtaking with the snow.”

Like many couples these days, these two lovebirds opted for a first look with wedding photographer, Pepper Nix“We thought that it would ease the nerves a bit to see each other before the wedding. It also gave us time together without anyone else. The pictures of this moment are amazing. They tell a story and I look at them constantly — reliving the moment by looking at the pictures makes me smile every time.”

Even in the snow, they held their ceremony outside by the fire (which made for some amazing photos)!

The bride’s father had passed so she asked her nearest and dearest to walk her down the aisle. “My uncle Jeff escorted me to the beginning of the aisle where my mom and brother took over to take me down the rest of the way towards my groom.  My dad passed away a couple years before my wedding and my uncle seemed to be the next best thing to my dad because they were so close. I also wanted to have my brother and my mom be a part of giving me away so I had all three escort me down the aisle.”

We often ask couples about their favorite moments from the day.  For this bride during the ceremony?  “I would have to say that my favorite memory of the ceremony was when we told each other our vows. It was the first time where my groom actually had to write down his feelings and I loved every word of his vows to me.  I loved every moment of the wedding but one thing that made me laugh was the hard time we had lighting the unity candle due to the light wind. We took forever while everyone was freezing out in the cold and had to have our officiant help block the wind with his folder.”

For the design of the day and flowers, they opted for product that reflected the snowy winter season.  “When I first thought of my dream wedding I thought of my favorite season which is winter and so I decided to have a winter wedding. When thinking of colors I was inspired by the colors of the peacock feather. I thought that navy blue, deep purple, and teal would be a perfect color combination. I also wanted to have crystals incorporated because fancy anything that sparkles.”  And the flowers?  “They were beautiful. White dahlias and roses for me and my girls had purple/red dahlias and other flowers to accompany them.”

Chelsey’s favorite moment from the reception?  “Our first dance. We hadn’t been able to practice and we were a bit nervous but we did it and it was to our song God Gave Me You by Blake Shelton.”

What’s a winter wedding without an amazing white wedding cake?! “It was everything that I wanted and more. It was beautiful! It was white with bling — I had brought Carrie a picture of a cake that I saw in a magazine and she made it even better — the flavors were champagne and red velvet.”

They even selected a favor fitting of what matters most to them – “a tin of homemade cookies from opportunity village — a local charity that we are passionate about.”

We often ask couples for advice for you and here’s what Chelsey had to say.  “Don’t sweat the small stuff and take in every moment because it will be over in a heartbeat.  Take in the moment and let yourself go.”  If she could change anything?  “I would have worn my dress the entire time. I did a wardrobe change into a shorter dress for the reception and I wish I would’ve worn my wedding dress the entire time.”

Congratulations to the newlyweds!
