I love a big beachfront resort. I really do. I don’t need a tiny property off the beaten path to completely disconnect from it all. In fact, I find that often times is easier (especially with bigger groups for weddings) with the amount of service, staff and amenities a larger property has at your beck and call. And believe me, those finer things in life are certainly at your beck and call at the recently renovated Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands. What a spectacular spot! Nestled right on the sand of the beautiful Seven Mile Beach (think water sand, clear blue bath waters and perfect temperatures), the Ritz Carlton has mastered the art of exceptional service in the sand.
This beautiful beach isn’t just a beach. Reserve a cabana by day or simply enjoy the cold towels passed around in between your cocktail service (which can also be delivered to you on one of their aqua bars floating in the ocean). Lounge the day away by the oceanfront pool or in the sand and if at a moment’s notice, you’re feeling active again, check out a complementary paddleboard or go for a snorkel with their gear awaiting you on the sand.
When you just can’t get anymore sun (these are the problems you face on island), then check into one of only three La Prairie Spas in North America and indulge in one of their exceptional services. But don’t forget to save time in your schedule for a nap in their beautifully appointed and oh-so cozy quiet room (a must visit, snuggle up to their furry pillows!) or a dip in the Jacuzzi below it.
Then, for dinner dine at Seven (and don’t leave the island without trying the truffle mac n’ cheese). Hosting your destination wedding here? I highly recommend a beach party in the evening (followed by fireworks off the shore if budget permits). Wow your guests inside in the grand ballroom (seats up to 1000 guests) or dine al fresco under the stars on the pool deck, the garden property, or of course the beach.
When you retire to your room, you’ll be pleasantly welcomed back to what feels like home. Colors that remind you of the island around you but luxury, amenities, and comfort of what you’ve come to know and love about a Ritz Carlton property – the renovation is a perfect balance between a nod to island life and luxury travel too.
I’ve been fortunate enough to visit the Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman many times over the past two decades and if it’s possible, it actually gets better with age.
