Tiffani and Scott said I do in a beautiful outdoor ceremony and destination wedding in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The couple had looked at the farthest points of the globe before landing on Puerto Rico for a pretty, purple-clad big day. Tiffani shared their story with us:
We spent a long time trying to find the right location – we looked at Utah and Iceland because we met in Nepal and thought we would incorporate mountains into our theme. But when we visited Puerto Rico we found a place so vibrant and full of life, we couldn’t have chosen another location. The Condado Vanderbilt truly captured the essence of what we wanted, breathtaking scenery and elegant simplicity. And although it didn’t have the mountains we thought we wanted – it had more.
We made the gift bags because we thought it would be fun and would personalize the event. We met on Mt Everest, so we created backpacks with a little notecard explaining why we added what we did – each item related to how we met (water bottles, socks, caribiners, prayer flags, candy bars, etc). My favorite item was a photo book we created for each guest. We were fortunate that almost everyone knew each other (40 guests) – but we built a book, that had 2 pages each (titled for each person/couple) of our lives with them.
Scott made 24 cards / gifts to be given to me throughout the day on our wedding day. Photos of us, phrases about love, cards, and even deliveries of my favorite drinks at specific times throughout the day. Definitely a favorite memory that he would put so much thought into finding ways to say “I love you” in the hours before the ceremony.
Ultimately, our inspiration is really the people who matter most in our lives. Everything about this place seemed to hold some piece of all the people we love.
We were very fortunate to work with such an incredible wedding planner, brilliant designers – and of course the Condado Vanderbilt is a breathtaking location. We planned this wedding in less than 9 weeks and so we relied heavily on our local vendors. In truth, we told them what colors we loved, the table we wanted – and the first time I saw it was when I waked down the aisle. The setting of the ceremony itself was incredibly beautiful and simply elegant. But the table was perhaps the most stunning design I’ve ever seen. Long farm table, bowls of orchids in purples and teal and rose color; it was spectacular. I would also say the fire dancers and salsa instructors made the event so fun and interactive for our guests. Because we met on Mt Everest, the touch of prayer flags illuminated by little lights hanging over the reception were really loved by Scott.
We asked the happy couple about their favorite moments from the day. The maid of honor accidentally stepped into the pool during the ceremony, watching Scott try and salsa dance, all the guys at the wedding wearing funny socks. Definitely my fathers speech.
Otherwise, my favorite memory is seeing Scott standing there when I walked down the aisle. Scott says it was seeing me walk down the aisle. We’re a pretty simple couple.
We cannot express enough our appreciation and gratitude for the incredible people who made this day such an extraordinary event. We’ve heard from most guests that rarely had they seen a wedding more beautifully designed, in a more stunning location, with better food and entertainment. All of which was made possibly by our vendors, which we now call friends.
