Looking for a truly international wedding? Well look no further, today we give you wedding decor from two continents, a couple with roots in three and a guest list that spans four. Today’s South African bride, Mariette, and French-American groom, Benjamin, live in Egypt but wed at a countryside family vacation home in France, dripping in vines and fruits (Swoon) that will truly have you dreaming. The couple incorporated and infused their cultures into every detail, from the handmade decor, to the diverse dinner spread, to the flowers, flown in from South Africa and paired with local wildflowers. Romance, color and the European feel well all know (and envy) was what this destination wedding from David Blair Photography was all about.
From Mariette, “When Benjamin and I wrote down our expectations about the wedding we agreed that we wanted a BIG week long celebration, we wanted things to be simple and fun, and, if possible, give all our guests the opportunity to participate in some creative way. We made and prepared everything ourselves. The day of the wedding many of our friends spread out through the countryside gathering wildflowers to add to the handmade decorations. It was a week long celebration where many of the guests contributed.“
Mariette’s dress was a surprise gift, designed and made by her mother in South Africa. Yep, we’re jealous too! It looked quite perfect on the gorgeous bride at her picturesque outdoor ceremony, complete with beautiful, simplistic details and even more beautiful symbolic rituals.
For dinner, nothing less than true South African barbeque paired with French wine, cheese and bread, of course!
After the meal of a lifetime came to an end, guests entertained the newlyweds with prepared skits, songs and speeches to keep everyone laughing long into the night. Love, laughter and a whole lot of culture sounds like quite the perfect destination wedding to us, no? Congratulations Mariette and Benjamin!
