Lisa and Yianni said “I do” in the Greek Riviera overlooking the ocean at Island Art and Taste. Yianni is Athenian-born so a destination wedding in Greece made perfect sense for this pair! The couple traveled from Washington DC to his hometown of Athens where they wed on Sept. 7th. Both Lisa and Yianni love international travel and enjoyed the idea of encouraging guests to see more of the world, so a destination wedding made perfect sense for these two globe-trotters.
But this trip wasn’t just about the wedding! The couple set out for some scenic photos with Heather Houston Photography while in Mykonos.
Given their love of travel, guests were invited to see the world via a passport inspired invitation by Digby & Rose!
The ceremony took place out front of a tiny chapel with views that seemed to go on forever.
A pretty pink and white palette was designed to compliment the location perfectly.
On the wedding day, wedding photographer, Vangelis Photography captured the couple taking time out for two around the property.
The ceremony was n0n-traditional and incorporated both Greek and American wedding traditions. The couple “sought to create a non-traditional, yet culturally-respectful wedding ceremony that would appeal to a variety of guests coming from several different countries, cultures and faiths.” Keeping in mind what was personal to them, they merged their two cultures beautifully.
Planning from afar isn’t always easy, but “despite the distance, time-zone differences and occasional language barriers, the wedding went perfectly!”
The evening ended with a fireworks show to send the couple off as husband and wife. They plan to honeymoon later this month in Costa Rica and get a change of scenery from the cold east coast winter.
Congratulations to the newlyweds!

Hi Lisa,
I love your wedding photos. The venue looks perfect. I looking into getting married here next year. Can i ask, how many guests did you have at you wedding?
Thanks
Katie
HI Lisa,
I am also getting married at Island this summer and was hoping to have a non religious ceremony, as you did. Could you give me the info of your officiant? We are looking for one right now and it’s a bit difficult.
Thanks!!!!
Keri L Kutansky sorry for the delay in getting back to you. For the officiant, I suggest using one of the celebrants at Heliotopos. Here is their contact info, and please tell them I sent you.

@disqus_9Sb73wpiSd:disqus I’m so glad to hear that; you are absolutely going to love it and the staff at Island are so easy to work with. Maria there at Island was our coordinator and was so helpful; I don’t think you’ll need a third party wedding planner beyond having the Island team. Also, I highly recommend Vangelis Photography, and Studio7, our florist, both of which are based there in Athens.
I’m getting married at Island this summer, thanks for some inspiration! By the way, did you get a wedding planner? Great pics!
Beautiful post, and today is our 5 month wedding anniversary! – Lisa
