Destination Wedding – Lahaina, Maui

lahaina weddingsRecently, I was honored to attend a wedding for someone that I love, outside of my work! My oldest cousin Adam wedded his sweet sweetheart, Tracy, on July 12 in Lahaina, Maui. What’s unique about this date is that it was the same wedding date of his younger brother, who wed a few years ago and with whom he also shares his birthday with!

During their planning, Tracy came upon an incredible private estate that provided a low key wedding on the beach in Hawaii at which to have their ceremony and reception. The Olowalu Plantation House offered a fantastic view from the grounds and was complete with a fabulous front porch to sit back and capture the scenery and take it all in from afar. The home’s interior made for the perfect backdrop for pictures while Tracy got glammed up by Jean Muldoon Hair and Makeup.beach estate wedding in mauiAdam and Tracy, like many destination couples, decided to keep the event relatively small with only 60 guests in attendance and all dressed in Hawaiian attire and flip flops. The colors were uplifting with the bright orange and fuchsia surrounding the theme. As a Hawaiian ritual, the bride and groom placed leis on each of their mothers that were sitting in the front row of the ceremony. Once the “I Do’s” were professed all of the guests came together for a huge group photo.

Favors for the guests were custom Hawaiian soaps personally made by Hawaiian Bath and Body. And to top off the end of the reception, a slideshow was shown, revealing old family pictures of the bride and groom!

destination wedding at olowaluI had an amazing time in Maui, and being with friends and family for the weekend reminded me of why I enjoy destination weddings so much! Everything about the weekend was great; the local vendors were extremely sweet and welcoming, the venue was gorgeous, and the bride’s vision came together beautifully and without fuss or formality. I’m so glad that I got to be a part of Adam and Tracy’s big day. Growing up, I looked up to Adam so much that it was incredibly special to see him and Tracy say “I do” and to laugh and laugh to tears throughout the weekend’s worth of family fun and beachside activities.maui destination wedding
