Berry and Ben wed in beautiful Santorini, Greece, in an intimate destination wedding at a place that was perfect for this pair. The bride shared their story with us.
I have been reading the Greek Mythologies since I can remember. The glories of war and love stories are so fascinating and it inspired me to explore this ancient country on the other side of the globe. As for Ben (the groom), he is more a beach-type traveler and he loves relaxing on a beach with a chilled beer in his hand. With numerous islands and rich history and culture, Greece has the perfect combination for what we both are interested in and has always been on top of our travel destination list. Since we both wanted a small intimate wedding on a romantic island, Santorini was no doubt our first and only choice where we wanted to tie the knot. Seeing that we are from China and Taiwan, respectively, and now living in New York City now, a travel destination with our very closest friends and family was the vision for what we wanted. This also allow us to spend much more quality time with our guests.
In terms of planning the wedding, honestly, it is not quite our thing. Neither of us had much preference or detailed visions about our wedding. We just knew that we wanted to travel to a place with beautiful scenery as the backdrop, celebrate with a crew of close family and friends and end the night with an awesome dinner reception. With assistance from Lydia of StellandMoscha, everything that we talked about came to life on the wedding day. Having gone through their blogs of previous weddings, their incredible work was the biggest reason that we decided to work with them, and it also served as inspiration for our own wedding.
We made our vow to each other on the patio of Kamares Apartments in Fira in front of our family under a beautiful arch and the iconic and most beautiful Santorini sunset over the Caldera as a backdrop.
For both of us, our favourite moment was seeing each other for the first time at the wedding ceremony. We were totally immersed in the “OMG, this is really happening” moment! Considering we have been dating for 8 years, we could not anticipate how powerful and emotional that moment would be. It was the most amazing feeling to see Ben waiting for me in under the arch and surrounded by all the dearest family and friends. The beautiful sunset and view also gave us a lasting impression.
For the reception we had a delicious, intimate dinner on the terrace looking out over the Aegean and Fira.
When we looked the photos, we were amazed by the changing color of the sky throughout the night. It starts with soft, warm sunbeams during the ceremony, changing into a dramatic blue and purple during the photo session and dinner reception. Absolutely stunning!
