Jennifer and Brenden held their destination wedding at Playa Fiesta in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. This brave couple booked their wedding sight unseen and what a magical sight it turned out to be! Jennifer shared their big day destination wedding week with us. “We had booked the venue site unseen, and so we made a visit to avoid any surprises. As soon as we visited Puerto Vallarta, we knew that the destination spoke for itself.”
“We designed and compiled our own welcome tote bags. Within each tote bag, we had a small tube of sunscreen, aloe, cleaning wipes, local snack, and a custom emergency packet that consisted of ibuprofen, antacid, bandaids, and an emerge-c packet. Each welcome tote bag had a personalized name tag and week itinerary which we had designed and printed.”
“Brenden absolutely had an amazing time getting ready with his groomsmen. They had the 3-bedroom corner suite that had the best balcony with an amazing view. It was the ultimate guy bonding moment, and it was the simple things that he had enjoyed – like having the staff setup lunch around the round dining table, and having all the guys sit down together to eat.”
“We both work in the creative design industry so we’re surrounded by beautiful things all the time. We had so many different ideas, it was hard to figure out what we really wanted for our wedding. But once we decided to do a destination wedding, we wanted to let the destination inspire what the wedding was going to be. We were inspired by the calm blue waters and the tropical lush green trees. We tried to incorporate design elements that echoed the destination.”
“I absolutely loved the location of our wedding ceremony. They had a walkway right next to the water with a trellis above to provide shade. Our ceremony was scheduled to happen an hour before sunset, and I couldn’t have asked for a better setup. Listening to the waves crashing against the rocks with the blue ocean and sun setting as my backdrop was a dream come true.”
“As I was planning my destination wedding, I knew there were elements that was going to be out of my control. For example, I knew what I wanted my flower arrangement to look like but I understood that what the florist can attain down in Mexico may be different. I had to trust that she will do her best to recreate what I envisioned, but her interpretation may also be slightly different and I needed to be ok with that. As much as you can try to prepare and plan every aspect of the wedding, it is also important to remember that things may change and you have to learn to adapt, and adjust quickly to the next best option.”
“All of our printed items were custom designed by us, and some of the items were printed at home. The only things we had a professional printer print was our wedding invitations, dinner menu, and welcome tote bags.
“We loved that our dance floor was set up to extend over the pool, The lanterns and candles glowed as we danced the night away over the water. It felt so magical.”
“The fireworks were a surprise to our guests, and it was timed to go off after we gave our thank you speech. Everyone, including us, were blown away when it went off. Looking back at photos, I can’t believe I had fireworks at my wedding! It was such a grand way to “close” the night, even though the partying continued into the late night.”
Congratulations to the newlyweds!
