Devan and Spencer wed on July 23, 2011 at the sprawling Newport Beach resort, Pelican Hill. The couple resides in Austin, Texas, but the bride had her eye on Southern California from the start. “One evening we had dinner at Andrea at Pelican Hill and I fell in love with the resort. From that point on, I knew that having our wedding there would be a dream wedding. It was difficult to persuade Spencer and my dad to agree. They both thought that we wouldn’t have more than 50 people attend, given that all of our guests would be coming from Texas. So, we had already almost entirely planned our wedding to be in Austin until fate intervened in April. I was having lunch at Pelican Hill and I had not given up hope, so asked to meet with the wedding coordinator. Pelican Hill would typically be booked at this late date, so I was shocked to hear that someone had just canceled their wedding on July 23rd and it was available! …It turns out that 128 of our closest friends and family came and it could not have been better!”
The sunset peach and white ceremony was abundant with roses, ivy, and orchids…and of course, a lot of love. Devan and Spencer are huge dog lovers, they travel everywhere with their two Scotties, and so the wedding was no different. “It was so special that we were able to incorporate them into our day by having them walk down the aisle as the two little ring bearers.”
The couple enlisted famed Todd Events to produce the grand celebration. And thus, no detail was overlooked. From releasing doves during the ceremony to photos of the couple framed on an entry way table outside the ballroom, this spectacular wedding was personal and special at every turn.
The bride and groom dined at a head table with their bridal party while a beautiful floral chandelier to match the table decor hung overhead. And celeb wedding photographer Robert Evans captured the day’s details, live band and all.
Behind the feasting table was the magnificent five tier wedding cake, of course, in the coordinating color palette of peach and white. Talk about a sweet tooth!
And for the grand finale, the couple jetted off in their “Just Married” adorned wheels after being showered with love and petals from friends and family. From Texas to California, this destination wedding proves barefoot on the beach is no pre-req for a fantastic evening of “I do’s.”
