Jessica and Brett decided to host their destination wedding in Mexico – at a place near and dear to the bride’s heart. From the bride and groom. “The bride has always loved relaxing and rejuvenating in Sayulita. When she and Brett were engaged, she took him to experience the town knowing he’d love it as much as she does. He loved it! They wanted to celebrate their wedding in Sayulita with all their family and close friends. The guests fell in love with the town too and enjoyed Sayulita just as much as the bride and groom.”
The bright yellow palette was also peppered with colors pulled from the local culture. It was important for this pair to use what was local and share in their love of the location with their guests.
Jessica and Brett opted for a beach wedding because of it’s special meaning to each other. “The beach and sunsets have played important roles in our lives and our relationship. We often reminisce about the many breathtaking and significant sunsets that we’ve seen together. We now live near the beach and Brett proposed to Jessica on the beach. It is only fitting that we were married on the beach.”
“During the ceremony we only had two people standing with us but there were special guests that were part of the “wedding party”. The guys all wore yellow Vans and you’ll see them dotted throughout many photos.”
This might be the most fun getaway ever! She rode off on a donkey decorated for the big day!
Then for a faster ride, the couple jumped into a getaway golf cart!
“The bride and groom wanted to pull from local art, design and culture when creating their wedding vibe and décor. They incorporated lots of color, music, textures and patterns characteristic of Mexico and the beach.” This including everything from loteria cards for table numbers and escort cards to maracas for the kids to play with.
A coffee table book about Mexico was an equally fitting guest book – one the couple can display at home for decades to come.
The menu including traditional Mexican fare and a fun cocktail bar of course!
We often ask couples if they faced any challenges planning from far away. This pair put a lot of importance on the entertainment. “Live music was an important part of the wedding reception and it took a while to find the right band. Finally, we discovered Los Tikkilyches who were a huge hit at the reception. The dance floor was full all night!”
“We loved having the band setup outside with the dance floor out under the stars. It gave the whole evening great flow from ceremony to cocktails to dinner to dancing.”
Guests then delighted in a traditional wedding cake before retiring for the night after one big celebration!
