Anja and Mike elopement in the city of love – Paris! This fashion-forward and fabulously intimate fete included just the two of them. We asked Anja to share a little bit about their intimate destination wedding experience.
It’s been my dream when the that time comes, I would like it to be in one of the most romantic places on this planet and no question that Paris fits the bill. Mind you how fortunate I am that my husband now agreed 100%. And, as we looked at some of the photos we both fell in love with the river Seine as the official place for our ceremony with Notre Dame as backdrop because it was solemn and magical at the same time.
My dress was designed and created by my talented brother, Robert Dimacali. He and I collaborated on the final design after 5 other designs to choose from. After much thought, I would want the color of the dress to blend with my husbands tuxedo and knowing that winter in Paris will be a bit gloomy, satin grey fabric would be ideal accented by lace, rhinestones and red sequence. I did not want the color to be the main focal point, but to simply blend as a whole.
Favorite moments for the couple?
When we exchanged vows, it was truly special.
Our elopement/destination wedding was somehow incorporated into our pre-planned holiday vacation. We started communicating with Laura Montorio, our Officiant extraordinaire, 3 months prior to the established date and so I was a bit nervous how it will turnout as anyone would, since we planned it in a short period of time. I must say that after my initial contact with Laura I knew that things will go smoothly. She was patient, meticulous, engaging and thoughtful. She and her husband Pierre who was our photographer put us both at ease. Like they say, it’s either you have it or you don’t. They are meant to be in this business. Kudos to both of them! After everything, I believe we gained new friends.
My advise to other destination wedding couples, have a few ideas in mind on how you would like the day should be but be open to suggestions. You will be surprised that collaborating with your coordinator/officiant will truly make it very special because there will parts of it is from your input and some parts that makes it extra special because it was suggested by your coordinator/officiant who got to know you even in a short period of time. After she is the subject matter expert :)
Congratulations to the newlyweds!
