Bobbie and Davie hosted a destination wedding in Austin, Texas at a unique wedding location – Stubbs BBQ! But this wedding, like most, didn’t go exactly as planned and this venue was actually a last minute surprise for all involved! “We were supposed to get married in my sister’s backyard which is like a botanical garden, but Austin had massive historic flooding the week prior to the wedding. So, we had to find a last minute option that was available. My sister has connections at Stubbs BBQ and Live Music Venue and knew that they had just finished building a special events room at the back of the concert space, so we jumped on it site unseen. It didn’t even have windows installed until the day before the wedding. Haha. We weren’t concerned…we had the people we loved most coming into town, we had amazing food and drinks lined up, and we had hired an amazing duo to sing for our guests (Dawn & Hawkes). We knew it would be wonderful no matter where we were.”
“As fate would have it, David and I had been to many shows together a Stubbs and the very first concert we attended together happened to be to see the band that was actually scheduled to perform later on our wedding night at Stubbs. It was personal because we had shared so many happy memories there listening to great live music.”
What was one of this blushing bride’s most cherished moments from the day? “Walking down the aisle to Dawn & Hawkes beautiful music and being able to treat our guests to an amazing concert that was taking place there at Stubbs during our reception.”
Another highlight? “Our amazing photographers…I didn’t know it was possible to capture the absolute essence of a point in time the way they did at our wedding. Unbelievable!”
“Our vision was to host a small, intimate, casually elegant gathering that was comfortable for all guests to thoroughly enjoy themselves while still honoring the sweetness of our wedding day. We wanted it to feel like a fantastic dinner party at our home in honor of our relationship with each other. We served food, and cocktails that we would serve guest at our home and enjoyed great music which is such an enjoyment for both of us.”
Long tables and family-style dinner service really infused that intimate personal vibe the couple wanted to create – without all the fuss!
This couple also opted to skip some of those traditional wedding rituals of a reception so we had to ask! “We really wanted to enjoy the day with each other and our closest friends and family. We felt that running around to perform “wedding rituals” would have taken away from that for us.”
Congratulations to the newlyweds!
