Darina and Edwin’s castle wedding in Tuscany was straight out of a fairytale. The adventurous couple, who have always loved Italy for its delicious food, beauty, architecture and overall sense of romance, couldn’t get the spectacular Castello di Segalari out of their minds once they’d stumbled across it on their venue search. “The castle immediately captured the essence of Italy to us,” Darina says, “and we kept coming back to it.” The medieval castle turned out to be the perfect venue for their destination wedding. It was here that Darina walked down the aisle to her future husband, surrounded by the rolling Tuscan landscape, as well as all their friends and family. The look was romantic, elegant and classic, with white and peach flowers and golden accents – fit for royalty! The couple’s florist, Francesca of Franci’s Flowers Wedding Design, shared more details of the big day with us.
The newlyweds from New York, Darina and Edwin, were married on September 25th at the Castello di Segalari. The castle was built in the 14th century and is located in Castagneto Carducci, just a few kilometres from the sea. I couldn’t believe how phenomenal it was when I first saw it – somehow Tuscany still surprises me with fairytales!
Darina is absolutely stunning. Her powder white dress and delicately embroidered veil complemented her natural beauty. She asked me to create a romantic style wedding with soft colors, so I used peach, ivory, and white for the theme. I created a fresh and delicate bouquet for her, which you can see was a collection of plump roses, lisianthus, and very green eucalyptus leaves. I incorporated the same style into the bouquets for the three bridesmaids, who were accompanied by a ring bearer and flower girl.
The couple professed their love under an outdoor gazebo, decorated with two peachy compositions of roses, lisianthius, and freesias, while translucent white drapes softly danced around them. After the ceremony, the aperitivo (Italian-style cocktails and hors d’oeuvres) was held poolside.
The reception tables were set with classic dinnerware, gold candlesticks, and just a touch of peach and rose. The sweetheart table was set below a pergola, illuminated by candles set atop mirrors, with others hung by peach and gold ribbon, and fairy lights set within the shrubbery.
Congratulations to the newlyweds!
