Kohleen and Kash hosted their intimate, family-filled destination wedding in Washington State near Seattle, on the picturesque Bainbridge Island on Puget Sound. However, the weekend was so much more than just a celebration of marriage. It was also a celebration of life, incorporating the bride’s grandmother’s memorial service on the farm where she grew up. The destination wedding itself was overflowing with abundant flowers and sweet rustic details. This included local specialties like Rainier Cherries and ice cream from a creamery on the island.

This wedding has a great story to go along with some beautiful photography. The couple married on a farm on Bainbridge Island near Seattle Washington. The farm used to belong to the bride’s great-grandparents on her mother’s side, who built the house on the property. Kohleen’s grandparents sold it some years ago. However, when her grandmother passed away, the family contacted the current owners of the farm to inquire about having the memorial service there. The farm owners insisted on it. Once the bride and groom realized the Boundy Farm did a few weddings each year, they asked if they could also move their vows to the location where the bride’s mother and her mother’s parents once called home.

With permission in place, the couple immediately canceled the wedding they had planned at another location, and both the wedding and Kohleen’s grandmother’s celebration of life took place on the same weekend, with their closest family and friends in attendance. A destination wedding with an emotional twist, where beautiful imagery and family history all came together, on one of the most beautiful weather weekends the North West had seen in a long time.

Meaningful family details were incorporated throughout the wedding day. At the woodland ceremony, the couple exchanged rings and the bride’s included her grandmother’s diamond. A display of family photographs was also set up at the reception.
