Meredith and Stefan held their destination wedding in beautiful Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Hailing from New York City, this was quite a change of scenery for the bride and groom and their guests. We asked the couple how they selected this special spot. “We had traveled to Cabo to visit a friend in March 2011, and fell in love with the town, the people and the food. After we got engaged, we started to look for venues in New York, where we live, and just couldn’t find a venue that fit our vision. The same friend we had visited a year earlier said “Why not get married in Cabo?” and it all fell into place from that moment.”
There were plenty of memorable moments but alone time was at the top of their list! “There were so many moments, but the photo session after the ceremony and before the reception when it was just the two of us and our photographers and videographer. We had all of the group shots taken before the ceremony so our bridal party could enjoy the cocktail hour. We drove along the golf course in a golf cart during sunset and had a chance to spend some time alone together before the reception. The time of day was so beautiful and serene it felt like a dream sequence.”
“Our color palette was green and silver, inspired by Diamante’s beautiful Dunes golf course and the color of the moonlight on the ocean at night. Everything seems to sparkle at night in Cabo and the shimmer of the silver was striking against the green grass.”
We often ask couples what advice they have for future destination planners and here’s what these newlyweds had to say. “Visit the destination at least once before you get there for the wedding to meet with vendors and make the initial arrangements. Also, arrive to your destination early! We traveled to Cabo exactly a week before the wedding date. The first 3-4 days we were there were spent meeting with vendors, making last minute adjustments etc. By the time our guests started arriving we had taken care of all of our last minute items and were able to entertain and enjoy the time with our friends and family. We also scheduled a weekly call with our wedding coordinator so we never felt details were falling through the cracks during the planning process because we were so far away.” Great advice!
Congratulations to the newlyweds!
